Nickel Boride Catalyzed Reductions of Nitro Compounds and Azides: Nanocellulose-Supported Catalysts in Tandem Reactions

Abstract Nickel boride catalyst prepared in situ from NiCl2 and sodium borohydride allowed, the presence of an aqueous solution TEMPO-oxidized nanocellulose (0.01 wt%), reduction a wide range nitroarenes aliphatic nitro compounds. Here we describe how modified has stabilizing effect on that enables low loading nickel salt pre-catalyst. Ni-B methanolic was also used to develop greener facile organic azides, offering substantially lowered with respect reported methods literature. Both aromatic azides were reduced, protocol is compatible one-pot Boc-protection obtained amine yielding corresponding carbamates. Finally, bacterial crystalline chosen as support for allow easy recovery step its recyclability new cycles.
